About Mid Argyll arts association

Who we are

The MAAA was established in June 1983. Its object is to encourage and promote the Arts in Mid Argyll - including Dance, Drama, Music, Opera, Poetry and the Visual Arts.
As a member of the Argyll and Bute Concert Tour Group (ABCT) we co-operate with the music clubs of Bute, Kintyre, Cowal, Islay and Oban on the choice of the top class professional musicians invited to perform.

What We Do

On the strength of its concert season, MAAA is one of the sixty plus music promoters in Scotland to receive sponsorship from Chamber Music Scotland (CMS) with funds from the Creative Scotland, and there is no doubt that this annual financial support helps to maintain the high quality and great variety of the music programmes on offer. We have a preference for using mainly Scottish performers but put on concerts with world class artists.

Our Venue

Ardrishaig Public Hall

Mid Argyll is situated in the West of Scotland, and the town of Lochgilphead is 80 miles from Glasgow on the A83 trunk road which leads to Campbeltown. On this road, 2 miles beyond Lochgilphead lies Ardrishaig.
Most MAAA concerts take place in the Ardrishaig Public Hall, which has a large car park right opposite. The Hall is adjacent to shops and local amenities.

funding Support for MAAA
Our Friends

Although our concerts are well supported ticket sales do not cover the costs, we rely on a grant from CMS, which is applied for annually, and local sponsors.

When applying for grants it is essential we show we are well supported locally; to this end we invite everyone to become a Friend and donate at least £10 to MAAA.

This demonstrates our local support as well as bringing in money that can be used to expand our programme for instance for Dance Events, visiting drama groups as well as extra concerts.

This income also allows us to keep our ticket prices low so that as many people as possible can afford to attend.
